Advertising Icon Mark Fenske to Appear on American Copywriter Podcast
Kansas City -

KANSAS CITY -- American Copywriter ( http://americancopywriter.typepad.com/blog/ ), the first podcast dedicated to the discussion of anything that even remotely relates to advertising, which is pretty much everything, announced today that its 13th episode will feature a very special guest, legendary creative director Mark Fenske. The podcast will be available for downloading on Friday, June 3.

Fenske is currently associate professor at the VCU Ad Center in Richmond, Va. Previously, he was the founder and creative director of the Bomb Factory advertising agency. He's also well-known for his creative work at Wieden & Kennedy and N.W. Ayer & Partners. In addition, Fenske has also provided voice-over talent for Apple, Coca-Cola, Nissan, American Express and Sears.

Fenske is also an accomplished director, having helped create music videos for the Indigo Girls, Bruce Hornsby, John Hiatt and Van Halen. His work for Van Halen earned him an MTV Music Video Award for Director of the Year in 1992.

"Not to be cliche, but when Mark said he'd appear on our little podcast, Tug and I felt like two kids on Christmas Eve, or Hanukkah Eve," says American Copywriter co-host John January. "I mean, you know, Mark is a creative idol for us. It was great to have a conversation with him about this crazy business."

Tug McTighe, the show's other co-host adds, "Yes, it really was pretty cool."
Launched in February, American Copywriter is a simple little podcast about advertising and pop culture. Previous topics have included a discussion on how copywriting is somehow related to "Star Wars", Australia's marketing woes, product placement, old school toys and vintage advertising. The show is produced in the Kansas City office of Sullivan Higdon & Sink and hosted by agency creatives John January and Tug McTighe. American Copywriter was recently mentioned as a show to hear in the June 6 edition of BusinessWeek.
